The General Electric 16-Slice Lightspeed Computerized Axial Tomography (CT) scanner was delivered to the Hans P. Peterson Memorial Hospital in Philip on Friday, March 28th.

The 14 boxes and crates included the donut-shaped main unit which weighs over 4,200 pounds, or as a delivery supervisor said, "more than your average SUV." The machine and installation comes at a total cost of a little more than $400,000.

The CT scanner will be in general operation by Friday April 4th.

Two candidates are running for Philip City Council Ward III, Shirley Chin and Greg Arthur.

Ward III is that area within the Philip city limits north of Pine Street and west of Larimer Street. Ward III also includes the area north of Pine Street, west of North Wood Avenue and south of Hone Street. The polling place will be in the community room of the Haakon County Courthouse. Polls open at 7:00 a.m. and will close at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 8th.

March 24th was the last day that citizens could have registered to be able to vote in the April 8th elections.

Marvin Swan, 80, of Pierre died Saturday, March 22 at Maryhouse in Pierre

Services were held Friday, March 28, at the First United Methodist Church in Pierre, with burial in Scotty Philip Cemetery in Pierre.

Marvin Ernest Swan was born on January 20, 1928, at Grass Lake, MN, to Ernest Yngre and Freda Katrina (Dahlquist) Swan.
