Patton brothers inducted into Philip High School Hall of Fame

After high school graduation, they both went on to earn doctorates in education, and both are now retired professors.

Philip Patton, high school class of 1952, was a professor at the Northwestern College at Orange City, Iowa, for over 40 years. He was a professor of accounting and marketing, an Associate Dean of Academic Affairs, and departmental chairman.

William Patton, class of 1954, was a professor at the University of Montana in Missoula, MT, for over 30 years.


Bergeson presides over Kids Speak 2007

Fifteen South Dakota high school students, including Philip's Bailey Bergeson, met in Oacoma, South Dakota, on Sunday, October 15, as the Youth Advisory Council (YAC). This council helps the Voices for Children identify problems concerning today's younger generation.

The council met to discuss and organize the Kids Speak 2007.

Each member of the YAC had earlier convened a listening session within their community. The members then came together to pool their information to decide what topic was most prominent and how the individuals and the YAC could be most beneficial.


Haakon District 27-1 School Board meeting

The regularly scheduled Haakon District 27-1 School Board meeting on Monday, October 16, was held at the Milesville Rural Attendance Center.

The board had inspected the currently used school buildings, finishing at the Milesville RAC before their board meeting. The inspection went well. The board then discussed the surplus of the Deep Creek teacherage, though no action was taken.

Luke Weber has been officially approved as the assistant wrestling coach for this season.

Superintendent Keven Morehart stated that the K-6 Title Review was currently underway.
