Jenn is a Midland teenager who requires a double lung transplant. The Kadoka Lutheran Confirmation class, the Future Business Leaders of America, and other community members assisted with the free will offering event. The supper raised $2,365 to assist with transplant related expenses. Total costs for just the double lung transplant operation range from $300,000 to $500,000. Extraneous expanses such as transportation and lodging for the family, and follow-up medical care are added expenses.

Keyser says his birth is recorded as February 12, because that was the day his father hitched up the team to go to Philip for supplies. When his father got to the courthouse in Philip, the birth was recorded as the current date.

The Philip High School football players, families, and fans held their end of the season potluck supper and awards night on Tuesday, November 21. The team had advanced to the 9A quarterfinals this year, after finishing in second place to Hanson last season.

Four Philip Scottie players have been selected to be on the All State 9A First Team - voted on by the coaches in the state.

Casey Cuny (senior, 6'0", 175 lbs.) was selected as running back. Cuny finished the season with 1,691 yards, averaging 12.4 yards per carry.

The Community Christmas Cantata will perform "On Christmas Day" by Marty Parks. A time of fellowship over coffee and cookies will begin at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, December 3, at the United Church of Philip. The Cantata will begin at 3:30 p.m.

The Philip Elementary Concert will be on Tuesday, December 5.

The Milesville School Christmas Program will be at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 14.

The Philip High School Band and Vocal Concert will be at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, December 18.

Midland's Elementary Christmas Concert will be at 7:00 p.m.

Free flu shots are available to infants, toddlers and pre-schoolers ages six months to 59 months from November 27 through December 3 at the SD Health Department's local community health-nursing offices. The free shots are part of the state's observance of National Influenza Vaccination Week.

Parents should know that a booster shot is needed one month after the first shot if the child is receiving the flu vaccine for the first time.

Earl Eliason is a licensed dealer of used and new firearms. He is still checking his inventory, but at this point in time, he knows that five handguns have been stolen. A paper bound acquisition and disposition book, Federal Firearms Record, was also taken. The book is Eliason's registry of the make, model and serial number of the guns that he has in stock and has sold.

The front door was jimmied and the wood by the door lock was splintered. The lock hasp on the handgun display cabinet was forced open.
