Snow and rain welcome sight, but hopefully there is more to come

Everybody liked the damp weather and this snapping turtle was out and about from his Bad River home. The moisture came at a good time for crops; the ground soaked up the moisture, so there was relatively little run-off.

The moisture that came to the Haakon County area in the form of snow and rain during the last few weeks was welcome.

Reports and comments varied from area to area and personality to personality. Generally, there was less run-off than normal because the moisture “was just going into the ground.”

Some minor difficulties were caused by the rain. The girls’ golf meet in Wall was started, but then cancelled because of the downpour.

The water poured down. Shoes squished. Golf balls were played from grass that might as well have been in standing water. Still, no one really complained because the rain was great. Here, Brit Miller and two opponents wait their turns at the Philip meet. The Philip Scotties won.

Muirs new to Philip; bring new business to town

Chuck and Franny Muir come to Philip from Phoenix, Arizona. They intentionally looked for a small town to live in, and they luckily found Philip. Chuck works for WAPA. They already belong to the Chamber of Commerce and are working to be a part of the community.

Chuck and Franny Muir have moved to Philip. Chuck comes to work as a high voltage power system electrician for WAPA. Franny runs a massage business where the one giving the massage travels to the client.

The Muirs are recently from Phoenix, Arizona, though Chuck is originally from a small town. Chuck was in the Navy and has lived in or visited large metropolises such as Los Angeles and Tokyo.
