Thomas “Tom” Brown

Thomas “Tom” Brown, age 47, of Kadoka, S.D., died Saturday, March 28, 2015, at the Rapid City Regional Hospital, due to complications from surgery.


Robert “Bob” Corcoron

Robert “Bob” Corcoran, age 80, Philip and Pierre, S.D., died Saturday, March 21, 2015, at his home in Philip.
Robert James Corcoran was born May 24, 1934, in Pierre. He was born to Thomas D. Corcoran Sr. and Viola (Schaber) Corcoran. He joined his brother, Thomas G. Corcoran, and his sister, Susan Morris. A third brother, Michael Patrick Corcoran, was born in 1943.


Desireé (Heigh) Hanssen

Desiree’ (Heigh) Hanssen, age 32, Frederick, Colo., died March 22, 2015, at her home in Frederick.
Survivors include her parents, Craig and Janice (Stickler) Heigh, Rapid City; three daughters, Jericha and Aleksi Heigh, Rapid City, and Anaiya Hanssen, Frederick, Colo.; two brothers, Brennen Heigh and his wife, Katie, Rapid City, and their daughters, Alyson and Emelia, and Callan Heigh and Rosemary Colgrove, Rapid City; her paternal grandfather, Jay Heigh, Elgin, Texas; her maternal grandparents, Harold “Bud” and Dorothy Stickler, Philip; and a host of other relatives and friends.


Albert A. Pennington

Albert Austin Pennington, 88, Gardner, Kan., passed away March 20, 2015, at Olathe Hospice House.


Marlene E. Perault

Marlene Perault, age 63, Belvidere, S.D., died March 19, 2015, at the Rapid City Regional Hospital.

Carol Deibert

Carol passed away March 10, 2015, at Bronson Battle Creek. Carol was born June 8, 1938, in Faith, South Dakota, the daughter of William A. and Pauline (Sperle) Smith. A benefit specialist, for Guardian Incorporated for many years, Carol enjoyed playing bingo and bunco, puzzles, going to the casinos, and flower and vegetable gardening and she would always can the vegetables for family and friends. Always cooking and baking; she will be remembered for her homemade goodies. Carol also enjoyed knitting and crocheting, and all of the new babies in the family would receive a crocheted blanket.


Lucille Gibbons

Services for Lucile Gibbons, age 93 of Rapid City, formerly of Lemmon, was held on Wednesday March 18, 2015 at Behrens Mortuary in Rapid City with The Reverend Deacon Virginia Bird officiating. Burial with Eastern Star rites was in the Chance Cemetery south of Meadow, South Dakota at approximately 3:30 p.m. with The Reverend Florence Hoff officiating.
Serving as casketbearers are grandchildren Scott, Shawn, Eric, Skylar, Kylan, Brydan. Honorary casketbearers are Peyton, Elaina, Jayden, Kind, Anaya, James, and Jennifer.


Ronald “Ron” Cornelius

Funeral services for Ronald “Ron” Cornelius, age 81, longtime Lemmon area businessman, were held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, March 16, 2015 at the Calvary Lutheran Church in Lemmon, South Dakota. Rev. Bob Edwards officiated with burial to follow in the Greenhill Cemetery.
Visitation was on Sunday, March 15, 2015 from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., followed by a gathering of friends and family at 5:00 p.m. all at the Evanson Jensen Funeral Home in Lemmon.

Learning modules to high school from Scotchman

“We need to do anything and everything to see what we can do to see if any student can come into this industry,” said Jerry Kroetch, president of Scotchman Industries, Inc.
Kroetch was referring to the two new learning modules donated to Philip High School by Haas Automation, Inc., through Scotchman Industries. The units were set up and immediately put to use by high school students under the supervision of instructors Doug Hauk and Tom Parquet.


Merle E. Crew

Merle Ellsworth Crew was born April 3, 1920, on the Crew Ranch 12 miles south of Cottonwood, S.D., on the Badlands wall. Merle was the oldest son of Leslie and Jessie (Buerke) Crew.
He passed away February 17, 2015.
